Timeline: POST MISSION
OLD:
Rarkot kept his eyes on him before leaning in a bit. "This does not make us even. You still owe me for saving your life." He added with a laugh.
Vincent laughed back and replied. "You know that's not why I did this, Rarkot."
"I know." Rarkot said, his laughed fading as it left a smile on his face. "It is because you are an honorable man, Vincent Salvatore. Worthy of a warriors death and a place among the honored dead battling in Sto-vo-kor."
NEW:
"And on that day, old friend, don't be in a rush to join me." Vincent countered with a smile.
"I don't plan on it. Someone must avenge your death." Rarkot said with a laugh.
Marques looked at the other two Klingons. Just a minute ago he was ready to kill them all when they grabbed their weapons. Klingons were unpredictable. Even when it appeared to be going well, these bastards could turn on and this foolish code of honor will be an excuse to do so. "No need to avenge anything if we get to them first."
Rarkot looked at Marques with narrow and suspicious eyes. A slight grim formed on his face and he replied with slight hostility. “It would be within my rights to do so, Lieutenant. I would not need your permission to avenge the death of a fallen friend.”
Vincent immediately stepped forward and held his hands out to the two, trying to ease the tension. “He meant no disrespect, Rarkot.”
“And yet… it was taken.” Rarkot countered.
“And I am telling you to stand down.” Vincent said firmly, looking to Rarkot as he raised his voice. “To both of you.” He looked over to Marques. “This meeting isn’t meant for spilled blood. In fact, as far as everyone else is concerned, this meeting isn’t even happening.”
“Then… if you die… there should be no investigation.” One of the Klingons at Rarkot’s side said as he stepped forward.
Before the Klingon had a chance to place his hand on his weapon, Rarkot grabbed him and pulled him closer. He bared his fangs and growled at him. “There will be no bloodshed on this day. They are here as friends… not enemies, Kretrok. If you step out of place again, then you will have to answer to me. Do not disrespect my house because you have a desire to act like a child.” He than shoved him back as he looked over to Vin and Marques. “My apologies. It will not happen again.” Rarkot turned to Marques. “And… you are right, Lieutenant. Should something were to happen you may not my help, but if it were, know that it would be there without question. He is still my friend and justice, no matter who serves it, must be done.”
Marques simply nodded at the Klingon. "I suppose time will tell. But I will take you at your word in the meantime."
“You will find, Lieutenant…” Rarkot said as he approached Hunt slowly. “That I am a Klingon of my word.” He then slowly held out his hand. “And I am also… very patient.”
Reaching out, Hunt accepted the hand. Perhaps there was something about Rarkot that was honest and who really wanted these Accords to work out.
Rarkot looked at the Lieutenant firmly before nodding his head. As he pulled his hand away, he looked to Vincent, before gesturing to one of the other Klingons. “As it is tradition in our meetings.” He said as the other Klingon stepped forward, holding a bottle of Klingon Bloodwine. He stopped in front of Vincent and grinned as he handed it to him. “From my personal collection.”
Vincent took the bottle and looked down at it, examining it for a few seconds, before looking back to Rarkot with a smile. “As always, Rarkot, it wasn’t necessary. However, it is appreciated.” He tucked the bottle under his arm and extended his hand out as the other Klingon walked back. “Keep your family and your House safe. Don’t go doing anything stupid for that precious honor of yours, ehh?”
Rarkot stepped forward and stared at Vincent intently before grasping his forearm and pulling him close. He placed his arm firmly on Vincent’s shoulders and grinned slightly as he replied. “As usual, Old Friend, I make no promises. However, I will try. Until next time… do not be in a rush to meet your ancestors in death.” He soon smiled back at him.
Marques was clearly curious about the bloodwine. Yes, he heard about the stuff. But never in a million years did he think that he would ever access to the stuff.
“If I do, old friend…” Vincent replied as he placed his hand on Rarkot’s shoulder. “I promise you I will not go down as easily.” He slammed the Klingon’s shoulder again before holding out his hand which Rarkot took, grasping Vincent by the forearm as Vincent grasped his. The two squeezed hard as they stared into each other’s eyes intently before laughing and separating.
The Klingon stepped away, taking a moment to look to Lieutenant Hunt and offering him an appreciative nod. When he locked eyes with Vincent again he spoke firmly. “My family will put this information to good use. Thank you again for bringing it personally. Keep your eyes opened and stay alert. There are enemies all around you. Even those in Klingon Uniform. Don’t trust them all. Only trust the ones who have earned your trust.”
Vincent nodded his head. “We will, Rarkot. Keep you and your’s safe. If you need anything… you know how to get a hold of me. I’ll keep my eyes and ears open. Just in case.”
The Klingon nodded his head before making a fist and slamming it against his own chest, letting out a grunt. Rarkot looked at the others and nodded his head, signaling them to follow, as they all began to walk away from the meeting place.
Vincent watched them closely as they left. Although he trusted his friend, he was still cautious about the ones he was with. He never seen them before, but he was sure they were allies of Rarkot and his family. Or else, why bring them along? Once they were long since gone, he turned to Hunt and gave him a smile. “Alright, Lieutenant… What did you learn?”
"It seems like the Empire is not really on the same page," Hunt replied. "The Houses seem to dictate quite a bit. Trying to gain influence with the larger and more influential houses is the best bet for the Federation."
