Welcome to the USS Hecate!

Praxis changed everything
With the signing of the Khitomer Accords, the United Federation of Planets and her greatest adversary, the Klingon Empire, found themselves in an uneasy peace.
In the two years since the signing of the Accords the Federation Council has tasked Starfleet Command with revamping the Beta Quadrant Exploration program. The USS Hecate, one of the first Excelsior Refit vessels in the fleet will embark on a five year exploration mission beyond the Klingon and Romulan Empires. Penetrating the furthest reaches of the Beta Quadrant, her name is destined to be drawn in the same breath as Excelsior, Enterprise and other storied ships of Starfleet’s history.
Take a look around. If you like what you see, fill out an application form. Should you not see a position you want on the manifest, please contact us.
On behalf of the staff and crew of the USS Hecate, welcome! Join us and discover the Federation’s Golden Age!

Crew!
The Hecate is slowly coming out of her hibernation.
With work now calming down, I'll slowly be getting to grips with moving the Hecate along this week.
The aim is to get Shakedown finished before the end of the year so we can begin 2025 by getting our exploratory voyage well under way.
Please keep an eye out for tags and updates!

Crew!
It's a little early here, but I wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year.
I'd also like to thank you on making 2023 a very successful year for the Hecate.
This sim is an idea I'd been working on for a while before committing it to paper so to speak, and I'm gratified and humbled that you'd all contribute your considerable talents to getting her off the ground.
Here's to 2024 and another successful year for the Hecate!

Crew!
My sincere thanks on a job well-done in September.
You hard work earned the Hecate the Silver Unit of Distinction for the month.
Our XO, Khiane Mau, written by StarGeek, earned the Writer of the Month award.
The Hecate also earned an Award of Merit for September for 23-C.
In the quarterly awards we also earned CO of the Quarter too - an award reflective of the good work of the crew!
Here's to many more in the coming years!

Mission: Tales of the Twenty-Third Century
Posted on Sun Jul 26th, 2026 @ 9:32pm by Ensign Julia Vonner & Ensign Shanice Winters
Shanice returned back to the student dorms at the Academy. It had been three days since graduation which most of that time was spent with her parents. After saying her goodbyes to them, she was now back where her longtime roommate was waiting. Their assignments for their first postings were about to be sent out in the next minute or so.
Clad in jaunty, academy-themed athletic wear, Julia was seated at their shared workstation. She didn't acknowledge Shanice's entry, an uncharacteristic occurrence explained somewhat by the terminal screen displaying the standby splash page.
"Bitte antworte mir einfach," she purred at…

Mission: Fabulae Explorationis
Posted on Sun Jul 5th, 2026 @ 6:57pm by Ensign Julia Vonner & Lieutenant Marques Hunt
Lieutenant Marques Hunt stared down from the upper deck as the shuttle bay crew prepped the shuttle for the upcoming away mission. For whatever reason the Klingons hadn't taken the place for themselves, which was a bit concerning. But Intelligence wanted the crew of the Hecate to find out what was down there. So that was the task at hand immediately after the senior staff meeting.
Hunt had instructed the shuttle crew to do a full inspection before the launch. If anything was to go wrong, it wouldn’t be the condition of the shuttle. Before getting ready to head out,…

The warp field collapsed around the shuttlecraft as Hunt brought it down from warp speeds. Sa-kuiri relaxed as their journey in subspace came to an end, relaxing his hold on the armrests of his chair. He had been sure that it was imagination, but he had sensed a persistent vibration through his feet, and had convinced himself the craft was going to fly itself apart.
Letting out a small sigh of relief, he looked out the porthole at the system where they had ended up. His briefing had been minimal – Away Mission, Senior Officers, survey a planet with…

The Away Team had been gone for a few hours, now beyond the edge of even the Hecate's long-range sensors. Burke sat in his center chair, reading over a Security Department report. The Hecate had come out of warp in the gulf between the stars, cruising at a steady rate in the deep black.
Burke glanced at the Duty Helm Officer, an Ensign Vonner. He was unfamiliar with her, but had heard only praise from Lieutenant Hunt, and was fairly eager to see how she would cope while the Department Head was away with the survey mission. Toggling the…

Jeestyrs Sa-kulri approached the prototype long-range shuttle that was to take him and the senior officers he would be minding to the Demon-class planet identified as the target of their survey. The Efrosian had sat through the briefing with interest, but was no clearer on the reason that the Intelligence Division had for singling out the planet. Perhaps that would come clear with time.
The shuttlebay was a cacophony of noises. An Excelsior-class vessel carried a sizeable complement of shuttles, mostly short-range, but now with the prototypes long-range warp-capable shuttles as well. A little larger than the older Galileo-class…
